Supporting a Healthy Lifestyle after a Life Change

Nearly everyone has been through a big life change in the last couple of years, thanks to the pandemic. Some examples of these big life changes include things like losing a job, getting a new job, getting married, getting divorced, having a baby, moving, graduating, etc. And oftentimes, when we experience these big life changes, it throws our routines and our habits out of whack. If you’re like me, maybe you feel unanchored, like you’re free-floating.

In this episode, I outline seven steps you can take to get your shit together after a big life change so that you can manage your stress and support and health your wellness as you make your fresh start.

7 Steps to Rebuild After a Life Change

  1. Give yourself time and room to breathe.
  2. Determine your priorities.
  3. Figure out where you’re solid and where you’re floundering.
  4. Create a plan – and double the amount of time you think you’ll need.
  5. Break down your plan into short-, mid-, and long-term milestones or goals.
  6. Identify the habits you’ll need to achieve those milestones, then pick the easiest two or three to start with.
  7. Put your plan into action!

Take Control of Your Life

One of the benefits of following these seven steps is that it gives you the opportunity to take control in a situation that might feel a bit out of control. This sense of control can be a game-changer for managing your stress, and the better you can manage your stress during big life changes, the better and more empowered you’ll feel.
