What are the reasons to prioritize sleep?

Long story, short: because even though there are multiple reasons to prioritize sleep, the main thing to know is that sleep impacts pretty much every part of your life, health, and well-being.

Last week, I walked you through how to choose and implement a healthy sleep habit as part of the Be Badass with Me mini challenge. This is an 8-week challenge that dedicates two weeks to four wellness pillars: sleep, stress management and mental health, nutrition, and movement. 

In this week’s episode, I give you five reasons you should prioritize sleep to encourage you to take steps to stop feeling like shit and start feeling like a badass, instead.

As part of this challenge, I also give you my update on how things are going with me and my sleep habit practice. Because challenges like this work better and we stay more motivated with social support. I also want us to be able to learn from each other as we go along. Here are five reasons to prioritize sleep

  1. Chronic sleep deprivation messes with your head.
  2. It messes with your mood.
  3. You get sick a lot. 
  4. Your weight clings to you like a preschooler to their parent’s leg on the first day of school. (You struggle with weight management.)
  5. You feel like you’re moving through water. (Movement and exercise feels really hard.)
